The University of Chicago Facilities Services

Chicago, Illinois

The University was developing $500,000,000 of new facilities with an internal organization that was not staffed to handle this volume of projects. We worked with the University to identify their needs and capabilities, and recommended that outside consultants be brought in to manage their major developments, while their inhouse staff be utilized to manage on-going projects.
The first order of business was to select an owner’s representative for the new athletic center, structured parking garage and student housing. Appropriate firms were identified, Requests for Proposal written and issued, interviews conducted, evaluation criteria developed for ranking each respondent, and references checked.

This project was followed by the need to conduct a design competition for the University’s new Graduate School of Business (see U of C Harper Center project).
